Main Task- Planning on Middle Spread
Main Task- Middle Spread research on other music magazine
It is very important for a magazine, as it is set right at the middle, which is the whole magazines' central. When customers opens up a magazine before purchases, it is often the middle spread they look at second after looking at the front cover, so if the middle spread of the magazine is well done and lay-out, it would increase the level of purchases. I have also realise that the middle spread for the magazine is usually the cover story.
For this, I looked at a few middle spread of different types of music magazine and have analysed the UK’s biggest music magazine:”Q”.
It is clearly shown to the customers that it is about Cheryl Cole, there are paragraphs on the left side of the double page and on the right there is a full page picture of Cheryl Cole posing, customers immediately recognise her and would know this middle spread pages are going to be about her. It is lay-out smartly, lots of words and interview with Cheryl and then break off with a picture of her on the right side of it, posing if she is looking at the left side, which is the interview of her. There is also a big “C” showing Cheryl Cole on the interview page.
Overall, I really like the lay-out of this middle spread of “Q” and have also gave me ideas of what a middle spread should be like and how I should lay-out my music magazine and what should put in there, such as what kind of questions should be added on and asked.
